Spring has Sprung...bring on the fun!

So just like that its April. And the calendar is filling up! Lots of great stuff to check out in downtown Raleigh this month as we head into Spring/Summer with so many free or nearly free events to attend!

To kick off April, we have the World Beer Festival coming up this weekend, Saturday, April 14th at Moore Square. Two shifts, an afternoon shift and an evening shift to sample tons of local and specialty craft brews. This was fabulous last year, despite the huge thunder and lightning storm that flooded the main tent! Weather looks good and we got our tickets so we are ready to sample! Make sure to get them now if they haven't sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at www.allaboutbeer.com/wbf.

Second, there is the grand opening of the Nature Research Center in downtown Raleigh. This is the new wing of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. I'm sure you've seen the big globe taking form in front of the huge new building and its sure to be an awesome downtown destination! The coolest thing is they are hosting a FREE 24 hour grand opening so you can check it out at ANYTIME from Friday April 20th at 5pm until Saturday, April 21st at 5pm. For more info, http://naturalsciences.org/programs-events/grandopening.
Now this isn't just child's play...there's something for the beer lovers too! Friday night from 10pm - 1am, The Science of Beer making will be presented at the Acro CafĂ©, Friday by Mother Earth Brewing Company  and Rocky Top Hospitality. There will also be live music set up outside and the ever-popular Burt's Bee's Tent sale where you can get great deals on all kinds of Burt's Bees products! Here's a link to the schedule of events.

And the good times keep rolling! The Pit's North Carolina Cuegrass Festival from 12-6pm happens on Saturday, April 21st. This has been a lot of fun in the past with great beer, great bands and of course, great BBQ!

Live music includes Mandolin Orange, Delta Rae, Old Habits and American Aquarium. All for just $5 at the gate. You can't beat that price! Check the Cuegrass website for more details.

Lastly, the annual Southern Women's Show - Raleigh is happening on Friday April 27 through Sunday April 29. Something really special this year is the exhibit of Princess Diana's most famous dresses!  The Royal Dresses of Diana, the People's Princess. If you are a fan, this is a fantastic opportunity to see a very unique exhibit. The exhibit follows Princess Diana’s journey from her childhood, her wedding to Prince Charles, raising her family, and of course her charity work. Grab a mom, sister or girlfriend and head over and enjoy lots of food, fashion, beauty and health exhibits. All for just $10!  A great day out, The Southern Women's Show is at the NC State Fairgrounds - Jim Graham Building and Exposition Center and has lots of great stuff to check out for a great price!!
