NORTH RALEIGH: New City Barbeque

Happy Monday, Raleigh!

In case you haven't heard, North Raleigh has a cool new barbeque restaurant! City Barbeque is located at 9434 Falls of Neuse Road, very close to the 540 interchange and next to the new Sprouts grocery store. City Barbeque features a fresh, modern interior and it's a nice, casual, fun place to grab a quick lunch with coworkers or dine with the whole family. There's plenty of seating for big groups inside and out on the patio, and lots of shareable food options. It's not just pulled pork, they offer brisket, turkey, pulled chicken and ribs as well.

And sides. The sides are amazing. We loved the green beans with bacon, the corn pudding, mac and cheese, potato salad and cornbread. We also sampled tasty baked beans with brisket, sweet vinegar slaw, and collards with pork. French fries, hush puppies and more are available. If you can't decide, you can order a sampler. Wash it all down with some classic old school bottled soda or fresh brewed iced tea & lemonade.

All of their meats are smoked on-site at each restaurant, hand rubbed with spices, and continually are rotating in the smokers morning and night to barbeque perfection. All the sides are prepared from scratch in the restaurant and made from fresh ingredients.

As we enter the time of year where there are lots of family get-togethers and celebrations as students graduate, weddings, showers, holidays and more, City Barbeque offers food to go in party packs, family packs, sandwich packs and more! Just call and pick up or they offer catering which is a great option for graduation parties. Also, if you are involved in school fundraising (like myself), they support the local community by offering fundraisers.

The place smelled amazing when we arrived and the service was great. Friendly staff helped us order a bunch of sides along with some ribs, chicken and pulled pork. I also had the More Cowbell sandwich with brisket, peppers, onions, smoked provolone and horseradish sauce on grilled Texas toast. And speaking of sauces, there's a whole range of sauces you can sample from the sauce bar. They're delicious and there's a nice range of flavors.

Make sure you try the banana pudding! Even if you don't typically do dessert, it's the best I've had.

I really like the outdoor seating that's available now that the weather is getting nice. And you don't have to rush, stick around and play corn hole if you like. It's a friendly, relaxed place to dine, serving up some great barbeque! Check it out soon!
