Located in the heart of historic Raleigh, the Merrimon-Wynne House celebrated its Grand Opening this past Friday night in downtown Raleigh! The Merrimon-Wynne House is a historic Raleigh home that was moved in 2008 and recently completed a six month renovation at its new location at 500 North Blount Street. Merrimon-Wynne House offers a premier Raleigh downtown venue space for weddings and other special events. Located on the corner of Blount and Polk Streets, it's on the same street as the Governor's Mansion. The house itself was built in 1876. You can read more about the history of the house on their website.
We arrived to see the house beautifully lit up and filled with people enjoying the evening. The house was warm and inviting with beautifully displayed flower and candle arrangements, and delicious hors d'oeuvres from Donovan's Dish, a Raleigh based Catering Company. The fabulous Sidecar Social Club , a local jazz ensemble, provided the perfect live music and ambiance inside the house while Joe Bunn DJ Company kept the music and the party going in the tent that was setup outside the house.
Grounds provided great coffee and The Cupcake Shoppe featured tasty and beautiful treats wrapped up and ready to take home with us after the party.
The location of the house and grounds allow for Merrimon-Wynne House to fill a unique special event niche by offering this exciting new venue in downtown Raleigh. Its great to see Raleigh breathing new life into its own historic features and rejuvenating the city by connecting back to its own special part of history.
