The Wander Box Experiment in Raleigh

Last Friday night in downtown Raleigh two amazing events collided to form the perfect  Summer evening out. The weather was stunning, not too hot and it was First Friday where the streets come alive with art, food, music and drink. I was fascinated with the news of Raleigh's first mobile Beer Garden that was making its second night appearance at the CAM Museum down in the warehouse district.

We made our way down and met some friends who had already grabbed a table. We joined them and shared a couple delicious local beers together under the twinkling lights. They did a great job with this beer garden on-the-go. The beers are poured from
an old recycled shipping container, rusty and scuffed with the Wander Box logo stenciled on the front. Small picnic tables were laid out in rows in the CAM garden with the words "Make Room for new Friends". A great concept as we scooted down to allow another couple in at our table.

As we gathered, slowly the crowd began to grow with an amazing lineup of baby strollers, and a mix of the young and old joining the festivities. We had our kids and so did several others and they were roaming around in and out of the roped off garden and enjoying the Free admission to CAM and the string crafts that were going on inside for First Friday.  Music played in the background as we snacked on some delicious pork dumplings from the food trucks parked around the corner.

I couldn't help but think how wonderful this all was and how I kinda wish it would stay here permanently. Or at least through Summer. The Wanderbox will be pouring local brews from their solar powered taps at the CAM museum until June 15. Then it will wander on. Where I don't know but I will surely seek it out and find it.
